Nursing Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the First Batch Students

On 29 December 2025, the Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the first batch of students was conducted with great dignity and enthusiasm. This memorable occasion marked the formal initiation of the students into the noble profession of nursing, symbolizing their commitment to compassionate care and dedicated service to humanity.

The ceremony commenced with a prayer and Prof. Ponnamma K.M, Principal, welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members, parents, and students. The chief guest Rev. Fr. John Oravumkara, Vicar Sacred Heart Church, Mikkam, inaugurated the ceremony and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the values of compassion, integrity, and professional excellence that are essential in nursing practice.

Sr. Sheela E.K., Provincial Superior, delivered the presidential address, and Sr. Daliya M.S.J., Administrator, felicitated the function.

The highlight of the event was the lamp-lighting ceremony, where the students received the light from the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the legacy of Florence Nightingale, known as the “Lady with the Lamp.” As the lamps were lit, the students took the Nursing Pledge, affirming their dedication to providing ethical and holistic care to patients.

The ceremony served as an inspiration to the students, reminding them of their responsibility to uphold the highest standards of the nursing profession. The event concluded with words of gratitude, cultural performances, and the distribution of refreshments, making it a cherished milestone in the history of the institution and the lives of the first batch of nursing students. The professional oath was administered to the students by Asst. Prof. Sr. Bhavya Jose. Prof. Manu Joseph, Vice Principal, proposed the vote of thanks.
